Sound Portrait Session FAQ

1. What music will Suzanne play when I go to her for a Sound Portrait?

When I focus on a person, I hear music from four different levels, representative of

1) The Personality

2) Physical: the energy patterns and vital life force within the Physical body

3) Emotional: a layer of Emotional patterning

4) Spirit: layer of deep, deep serenity which I call the Spirit or fundamental, true essence of a person.

I hear these four layers continually interplaying and interacting within a person, playing off of one another.  I often receive imagery, like an inner architectural geometry, as I play for a person, illustrating to me the various aspects within the person and how they link together, how the person is oriented into the world and with the spirit.  I am continually amazed at the uniqueness and beauty of each individual. It is a breathtaking experience for me to get a glimpse into people's uniqueness of subtle, inner makeup and beautiful design.  We are not as similar as we believe ourselves to be. Each person has a unique orientation, temperament and way of interacting with the world. It can be life-changing for people be seen and corroborated for their unique qualities and purpose.

2. How does the music Suzanne plays help a person?

The most common feedback I hear from people is that many feel more acknowledged than ever before in their lives, just through hearing the music that is played.  Many people say that when they hear their music they feel a powerful recognition of themselves which is beyond words.  To be acknowledged and seen and recognized for who we are can bring comfort and peace, and can sometimes constitute a turning point in a person's life.

By contrast, when a person may feel stuck in life, the layers of their music do not flow easily and naturally with one another.  The music of their spirit and soul has not been honored or supported to flow freely.  The music I hear from a person indicates how their spirit would like to move freely.

Music can do surprising and amazing things to help us move and mobilize beyond our patterns, to release and move more freely, to make deeper, foundational connections from within and to move into more elevated and inspired ways of being. As a person's inner music, rhythms and life pulses and tempos become integrated, the subtle life force can become reset and their music becomes harmonized, more dynamic, definite, smooth, flowing. When your internal music is harmonized, your spirit is flowing freely, your life force and creativity are free to flow and the Body and Mind can more easily heal and establish healthy patterns.

3.  Why is the music useful for healing and supporting people's higher potential?

In a Sound Portrait session, music is used to shift subtle energy and rhythmic patterns, subtle pulses, tones and textures of the Mind, Body and Spirit, to encourage integration and the wholeness of different parts working together harmoniously.

4.  What is the effect of each piece of music Suzanne plays for me?

The first piece of music I hear from a person often depicts a person's present state of being and how their spirit enjoys moving and flowing at this moment in time. That first piece exemplifies how the spirit might most easily flow and move.

The second piece of music I play for a person may help to inspire new depth and encourage the spirit to move more freely, to create a space for allowing the spirit to more effectively, engaging more easily with the mind and body.  The music can help to loosen stuckness. The music works to clear static, stuck patterns and encourage a person to open to more flowing patterns and ways toward resolution.  It's a very natural, organic process. Music traces patterns of tension and release, harmonically and rhthymically.

5.  How does Suzanne decide where to go with the music?

Your music indicates to me where it wants to go.  When I play live in the moment for someone, their music responds, moves and changes as I play.  A person's own pulses and music indicates where it is willing to go, to move and evolve.  I call this "Interactive Music" because a person's music responds and changes as they hear the music played aloud.

6.  How does the music produce a healing and transformative effect?

It is natural for the Body, Mind and Spirit to respond and want to move with music.  When a pattern of energy in a person is played musically, the pattern of energy in the person recognizes the rhythm and pattern and may begin to resonate and move with it.  Music makes it much easier for our patterns, rhythms and moods to shift, move, release, expand, evolve and metamorphose, often quickly, into a more harmonious and fluid interaction with the whole of our being.

As your Physical Body and Mind begin to recognize and sense the movements of your Spirit or Pure Energies, they release and open to move with the Spirit.  This is called entrainment, a natural phenomenon involved with Music.  Your Spirit becomes more free to move, inspire, uplift and engage with the Mind and Body.

Mind, Body and Spirit, all three, synchronize and come into harmonic resonance with one another.  This is when we are functioning at optimum.

The Spirit is able to move more freely and reminds us of patterns within our higher potential, patterns of greater ease, flow and freedom. This is what we feel when we are moved by music; the freedom to move and be moved.

Your Spirit is your connection with the Divine Spirit, the source of all healing and higher potential.

THE FUTURE OF MUSIC THERAPY

I honestly believe Suzanne can tap into our 'higher selves' and play its music. There is a lot of music designed for reflection and relaxation but Personal Music is a much more advanced form, created specifically for each individual. I believe this is the future of music therapy.
